SEDAPAL renews its trust in Eptisa for the development and maintenance of its Integrated Geographic Information System

The project will contribute to the Drinking Water and Sewerage Service of Lima having the best tools and improve the quality of its services to supply more than 9 million inhabitants

November 16 2017

Once again, Eptisa has been the selected company for the development of the Integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) for the Drinking Water and Sewerage Service of Lima (SEDAPAL) in Peru within a period of 24 months.

SEDAPAL is the company that manages the drinking water supply in the metropolitan area of Lima and Callao. The water is treated at La Atarjea, in El Agustino, and supplies more than 9 million inhabitants.

Objectives

The objective of SEDAPAL was hiring a specialized company such as Eptisa to provide the technical and functional support and corrective and evolutionary maintenance of the GIS, in order to guarantee the system operability.

Having a service like the one provided by Eptisa will contribute to SEDAPAL having the best tools in its Geographical System for operational and commercial and infrastructure activities. This will result in a substantial improvement in the quality of services for the population of Lima and Callao.

Service phases

During the first pre-operational phase, Eptisa has to schedule the project as well as define the necessary requirements for the production of the service, within a period of 2 months. The elaboration of a Project Management Plan according to the PMBOK methodology (Project Management Body of Knowledge) and implementing a software tool to address requirements and incidents will be a key point.

The second will be the operational phase, where an effective service will be provided and the functional improvements of the Geographic System can be appreciated. This stage will be essential in the development of the process. All requirements requested by SEDAPAL must be developed, tested and put into production by Eptisa. This phase will last 22 months.

The third and final phase will be carried out in parallel to the operational phase, in which Eptisa will provide all the final information about the SEDAPAL project.

Eptisa international benchmark

This award continues positioning Eptisa as a benchmark in this field. In 2013, it was selected for the management of the drinking water and sewerage service of Lima through a Geographical Information System.

The activities carried out by Eptisa largely coincide with those planned for this new delivery: project planning and management, definition and installation of the necessary hardware and software architecture, definition of data models of the solution, development of tailor-made functionalities, etc. All this contributed to increase the efficiency in the commercial and operational management of the company, facilitated decision making and substantially improved customer service.

Eptisa's re-election in Peru consecrates the Spanish company as an expert in the international water and environment sector, after having excelled in Spain with projects such as corporate GIS developments for Canal de Isabel II and Aguas de Txingudi.
