Eptisa to strengthen the capacities of the institutions in charge for the management and implementation of the Operational Programmes in the fYR of Macedonia

A team of experts will help the Macedonian Government to enhance its administrative and technical capacities in relation to the management of the EU pre-accession financial assistance

September 26 2011

A consortium composed by the companies EPTISA, ECORYS and ARCHIDATA has recently been awarded a new contract in the fYR of Macedonia, "Strengthening the Capacity of the Institutions to Manage and Implement the Operational Programmes". The project, financed by the EU's Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA), is designed to further strengthen the administrative capacity of the institutions entrusted with the management of the EU pre-accession financial assistance and the related institutional framework in order to achieve a sound and efficient management of all EU funds.

The intervention has great importance for the EU integration process of the country as it will tackle a number of important issues and challenges aiming to generate a sustainable institution and capacity building impact for the country's management system of EU funds. The main area of intervention will be the monitoring and evaluation of programmes and projects. Also, the project will enter the vibrant and challenging area of donor coordination and will contribute towards the government's efforts for introducing a programme based approach. Aware of the importance of this process, the Delegation of the European Union to the fYR of Macedonia decided to support the efforts of Macedonian Government through this 1.6 million euro worth technical assistance project.

During the next two years, a group of experts from the consortium will work to improve the capacities of the Macedonian authorities in the management of all EU funds, performing a wide range of activities: human resource development through implementation of prioritised training activities; improving strategic and operational management through the assessment of the operational procedures for the different operating structures, predominantly the monitoring and evaluation arrangements; and supporting cooperation and coordination of the administrative structures in the field of donor assistance and programme based approach.
