The assistance provided by Eptisa in Canal del Dique, Bajo Magdalena and in the departments of Caquetá and Guaviare, in this period and till September 2017 - when the contract will finalize - is focused on four main axes of work: socio-economic inclusion, participation and knowledge management, lands and territories and governance in development.

The implementation of "New Territories of Peace" has covered the whole negotiation process established between the Government of Juan Manuel Santos and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP in Spanish) formerly initiated in August 2012, and expected to end soon with the definitive validity of the new peace agreement reached in La Habana on November 12. Colombians have voted "no" to the previous agreement from October 2.

Even if the formalization of this agreement is an essential piece for the building of a culture of Peace in Colombia - a country suffering from more than fifty years of armed conflict - it is not enough to ensure its sustainability. As the Foundation Peace and Reconciliation recorded in its research "The challenges of post-conflict", after the signature of the Peace agreement 281 municipalities will still live in a state of violence. For this, it is now more than ever crucial to maintain the continuity of the role played by Programmes such as "New Territories of Peace" which seek fostering local and regional initiatives that promote socio-economic development and peaceful cohabitation in regions affected by military conflict, and improving situations of disorder in public and private institutions that guarantee the formal and legal exercise of a democratic society.
