Description

The overall objective of the project is to establish and maintain a Monitoring and Learning Facility (MLF), as part of the Programme to support pro-poor policy development in South Africa (PSPPD), which will enhance the capacity development and training amongst researchers, academics and policy makers in the government, responsible for addressing poverty.

The purposes of this proyect are:

  • To develop a cadre of researchers and policy-makers with a deeper understanding of household dynamics including those that relate to poverty to enable more informed evidence-based policymaking and associated interventions at national level and to improve capacity building in relevant government departments.
  • To manage and monitor learning interventions nationally to improve skills and capacity among policy-makers and researchers in producing evidence-based policy analysis, policy development, to conceptualise, plan and implement programmes around poverty interventions.
  • To provide support to the monitoring and evaluation system of the Policy Coordination and Advisory Services in the Presidency thereby improving the impact analysis of government policies and programmes, as well as develop tools and methodologies to assist policy makers and researchers in future monitoring and evaluation.
  • To establish and operate a knowledge exchange service nationally.
  • To document and disseminate learning processes.
